Welp, I was working on my FeedLounge alpha review a little last night before I went out to dinner with some friends, but as far as I can tell, their alpha server has been down the majority of the night. I don’t mind that it’s down, I just wish they’d post something on their blog about it…
Jack Johnson
I was reading Jason Calacanis’ blog in FeedLounge this morning, catching up on some of the blogs I’ve missed lately, when I found his post about Jack Johnson.
I always love to check out what other people are listening to, particularly when they come with such high recommendations. I immediately loaded up iTunes to check him out, and what do you know, I bought his CD. This is some kick ass stuff, particularly if you like softer rock (no head banging and no headaches, sorry). If you don’t have iTunes, go buy his CD on Amazon. I promise you won’t regret it!
FeedLounge Alpha Testing
As some of you may have heard (if you’re big into RSS and blogging, that is), FeedLounge has sent out 100 alpha tester invites for their new RSS reader service.
I was lucky enough to be at work when they sent out the invitations, so I could quickly jump on the email and get an invite. I’ve been using it as my primary RSS reader now for about a day. I have to say, I’m really impressed. I’ve taken a bunch of screenshots as I’ve slowly learned my way around (which wasn’t hard at all), and I hope to get a review of it up sometime tonight, along with all the screenshots so that everyone can see what a great product these guys have got going!
Goodbye Scotty!
It’s with great sadness that we today bid goodbye to our second Star Trek: The Original Series cast member. First DeForest Kelley (January 20, 1920 - June 11, 1999), and now James Doohan (March 3, 1920 - July 20, 2005), our beloved Montgomery Scott.
As Scotty you gave millions of loyal fans a reason to tune in week after week for the adventures Kirk and crew. I can’t think of a more appropriate day for you to leave us than the anniversary of Man’s first landing on the moon (July 20, 1969)… You will definitely be missed!
A moment of silence during final transport, please…

Is South Carolina Hard Working?
To kinda follow up on my last post about slowly making my way all the way around the internet, I also found in that same line of surfing this post about wasting time at work.
I quote you the last paragraph:
And how does your state perform? The laziest states in the poll Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Nevada, whereas the hardest working states included South Carolina, Rhode Island, Hawaii, West Virginia and North Carolina.
Wow… South Carolina is actually the hardest working state? I’m assuming this is only because there’s no kind of adjustment for industry composition. As they state earlier in the cited survey, industries vary greatly (Insurance is the worst at 2.5 hours wasted each day, while Shipping and Receiving is the best at only 1.7 hours wasted each day).
I guess I’m not doing that badly, considering Insurance is the #1 worst time waster (2.5 hours / day), and Software & Internet is the #5 worst time waster (2.2 hours / day). Since I work in the IT department of an Insurance-related business that writes all its own Software and has a quickly growing Internet-based business, I was pretty much screwed from the get-go… Ahh well…
