I’d noticed it once or twice previously, and assumed the best, but today pretty much made it official. Any comments I make on Alex King’s blog get deleted almost immediately, no matter how relevent.
Take today’s post for instance. Alex was requesting that his readers give him some suggestions for workout music, since he’s getting bored listening to the same songs on his ‘pod over and over again.
What do I do? Try to help out by suggesting that he should give us some examples of what artists he likes thus far. After-all, we can all go off recommending thousands of different artists, but if they’re not even remotely close to what he likes to listen to while working out, there’s not a whole lot of point. A second follow-up comment also suggested investigating podcasts, since I’ve personally started using a good number of them to ease my boredom listening to my same collection of music over and over again.
An hour later, I check back to see what else has been recommended, and what do I find? Certainly not my posts…
So, it would appear I’ve made it on Alex’s shit list. Thanks Alex, that just made my day, finding out yet another person despises me… I really appreciate it.
Hey man, chill out. I’d be willing to bet he’s running some overzealous spam guard. You’re not on his “shit list.”
I’m chilled… slightly hurt, but chilled…
I thought about the spam filter possibility, but there were 2 reasons I discounted this possibility:
1) Alex and I have had some “run-ins” in the past… Personally, had the roles been reversed, I wouldn’t have been offended enough to take something this far, but it’s possible he was…
2) I’d expect a SPAM filter to check immediately and not allow me to post at all… My posts actually show up, then “disappear” at some point afterwards… That’d be somewhat difficult to implement in a PHP script in at all, so I discounted that possibility as well.
Like I said, I’m not mad about it. It’s his blog, and I respect his right and (apparent) desire to keep me from commenting. I just wish he’d go ahead and punch me in the face (or balls…) a few times so we could get it over with and move on…
just drop him, if he doesnt care what you say and will automatically discount you, fuck him
Don’t worry, it’s no spam guard, he just hates your guts
Moo has a good point, pull the “you are a sucky grocery store” routine on him….like you started to do by posting this….just tell people how much his blog sucks and his policy on commenting sucks..
1 screwed and thoroughly annoyed shoppper can shut down a store…
Ahh, thanks for reassuring me fadumpt… people had me thinking I might actually not be that bad of a guy there for a minute.
If it were anyone else, I’d probably do exactly that: write up a post about how f’ed up it is that they delete comments, and denouncing them to the blogging crowd. Unfortunately, I keep up with Alex for one reason: he’s one of the devs of FeedLounge, which I’m beta testing. Quite often, there’s legitimate information I need… besides, I’m beta testing, and pissing off the devs isn’t usually helpful when you have a request or a bug you need help with.
Besides, I think he’s a really intelligent guy, and I know he’s damn good at what he does. I don’t mind burning bridges with useless bums (like that 5 part series of posts we just concluded…), but I prefer to try and keep the ones that link me to useful people intact… Who knows, FL could take off like a rocket (and I predict it shall) and I may be in need of a job at some point…….
