For those who may be interested, check out the new list of WordPress plugins used on this site. I’m very picky about my plugins, so there’s some really great stuff to be had there. I highly recommend every single item on that list.
The simplest, but most insanely wonderful plugin ever? Filosofo Uncheck Default Category. I can’t tell you how much time and aggrivation this one’s saved me…

Actually not so super plugins…
Using thr Wordpress database backup I get the error:
WARNING: Your backup directory is NOT writable! We can not create the backup directory.
Back to the drawing board!

Problem solved - make sure the folder you are backing up to has permissions of 777. I set them through SmartFTP first, but they did not take, and it wasn’t until I went in through cPanel that the permissions held.
Back to your normally scheduled transmission…

Safe Mode in PHP also causes problems with the WP Database Backup plugin. I haven’t spent the time trying to figure out how to get around that (and Plesk is a pain in the butt to do anything with).

Mindy: Sorry your comment got moderated. I don’t log in to my admin regularly, so I didn’t see that it had until now.
No idea why you’d be getting an error. I redirect /plugins/ to /about/plugins/ now, and it looks like that’s where it’s dying. I’ve tested several times now, and everything still seems to be working fine. Maybe it was just a temporary problem? Can you try again?
